Description

< strong > Octenisept A drug for use on wounds, mucous membranes and skin.

Composition

100 g of liquid contains:

- active substances: octenidine dihydrochloride 0.10 g, phenoxyethanol 2.00 g.

- excipients: cocamidopropyl betaine, 30% sodium solution D-gluconate, glycerol 85%, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, water cleansed.

Dosage

Octenisept is recommended for use undiluted.

Action

Octenisept is bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal.

Indications

Octenisept is designed for short treatments antiseptics associated with the wound, mucous membrane and adjacent to it skin, before diagnostic and surgical procedures:

  • in gynecology, urology, proctology, dermatology, geriatrics, venereology, obstetrics, intensive care units and infectious diseases wards;
  • when developing clean and rinsing infected surgical wounds;
  • when developing infected burn wounds and venous ulcers;
  • when rinsing abscesses of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, perianal abscesses, infected hematomas, etc .;
  • in the care of postoperative wounds and sutures;
  • within the reproductive organs of a woman, e.g. inflammation of the vagina and glans penis of a man;
  • before diagnostic procedures in the urinary system;
  • at catheterization;
  • before vaginal and extravaginal examinations;
  • during activities before, during and after childbirth;
  • for postoperative and postpartum vaginal irrigations before IUP insertion;
  • before activities related to artificial insemination;
  • before andrological tests;
  • in pediatrics;
  • for oral cavity disinfection, e.g. afta, tooth resection.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to octenidine dihydrochloride, phenoxyethanol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • In order to avoid the possibility of tissue damage, swelling topical, do not inject or drive the medicine into subcutaneous tissue pressure. In any case, adequate drainage from the pits must be ensured wounds (e.g. drainage, aspirator).
  • Avoid contact with the eyes.
  • It is not recommended to use Octenisept inside the ear and it should not be swallowed.
  • The use of Octenisept for abdominal lavage is currently not supported by sufficient clinical trials.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • A warm or burning sensation may occur in rare cases after vaginal irrigations.
  • When rinsing the mouth, the bitter taste lasts for about 1 hour, which is related to the effect of the drug.

Warnings and precautions

Octenidine dihydrochloride is more toxic when administered intravenously rather than orally, therefore should be avoided getting the drug in larger amounts into the bloodstream, e.g the result of an accidental injection. Due to the fact that octenidine dihydrochloride in Octenisept, there is only a 0.1% risk of this substance is unlikely.

Other medications and Octenisept

Octenisept should not be used together with antiseptics based on PVP-iodine (iodine-povidone complex) on adjacent parts of the body, as it can progress to strong browns and even purples discoloration.

Octenisept as a cationic drug can be combined with anionic agents washing agents or detergents to form sparingly soluble residues.

Due to the possibility of interactions with compounds anionic, it is recommended to use distilled water as a solvent (or water for injections).

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

There are no results from clinical trials on the safety of the drug in pregnant and breast-feeding women.

Driving and using machines

No studies on the effects of Octenisept on the ability to drive and use machines have been performed.
